Very Useful Device

I like to sleep when the room is cold but getting up is a different story. It’s hard for me to get up when it’s cold i… Makes me lazy and sleep more. Every morning I have to get up turn on the heater then go back to bed then get up again when its warmer. Now I have this all i need is to press the turn on button with out getting up from my comfortable bed and blanket. Then get up after 5 mins. I know Im lazy… but I really like it.

I suffer from SAD Seasonal Affective Disorder during the winter months, so I add lots of light to my living space. If you are a renter, you are unable to (or it would be disadvantageous to) install lighting, so your only other option is to purchase plug ins which is while these bad boys are so darn handy! Simple set up. Lights controlled by a remotes within minutes!

I park my diesel some 100 feet from the house and I can remotely open my garage door, and because of the in use indicator light, turn my engine block heater on/off without having to endure the inclement weather. Used the others around the house…….too cool.

The devices make a clicking noise but only when the button is pressed so that is perfectly fine. The units themselves are rather large, but that is to be expected given the Amperage rating. I would/will be buying another set because these are so convenient for turning lamps on and off.

The only downside seems to be how bulky they are. If you aren’t able to plug it into the top outlet (if your outlet was installed upside down or you lack room above the outlet due to furniture or whatever) it will cover the entire outlet because of just how big they are. Other than that, they’ve been great and have done exactly what I wanted them to.

I use mine every day. Only two cons that I’ve come across:

1. the plugs are MASSIVE. and 2. the battery is not a standard size so when it comes time to replace it, that might be a challenge. Also getting the battery into the remote was quite a challenge but not a huge deal. I couldn’t do it properly so the cover doesn’t fit back on.

Again. for the money this is good solution. If I had paid any more than $15 then I probably wouldn’t give it four stars.

i did not want have to run down the stairs every time i wanted to switch the cameras on or off (i need to reboot them like once a week, sigh i know……) and the other ones i have till now (i think from x10) used to stop working on occasions, the reason they didn’t work is not because of the “distance” because the basement is just a few feet under where im standing in the kitchen its just that all the concrete and insulation seemed to make the signal fain every so often so i went for this unit.

this unit work flawlessly! so this review is not targeted at the distance of the product but rather about the fact that it seems to send its signal through walls and floors pretty well. for me that was a plus

Awesome DSI Outlet Wireless Remote!

FYI, if they are unpowered the default is for them to shut off when you restore power to the plug, so you have to use the remote to get the lights, etc, working. I use them to individually control lights that otherwise would all go on at the same time, but I shut the power to the outlets off when not in use.

I am very happy with my purchase. Wife was not convinced but she now appreciates not have to manoeuvre behind the furniture to turn on /off the light. I told her we needed this gadget – I was right ! (for a change!)

Then I decided to buy this one. I’m glad I did. This one is built more sturdy and so easy to use. I can be quite a distance away from the light source and it goes on right away when I click my remote control. I am very, very pleased with this set. I’m going to order the 5 pack right after I’m done with this review.

Now, we can turn both on and off with the simple click of a button on a remote. The third outlet is used for our TV set up, because it saves energy to cut all of those electronics off while not in use. The buttons turn on the outlets with no delay; we even tricked a few friends and family by making it seem like it was voice controlled with the remote in our pockets.

They nearly block out the other plug in the outlet. Kind of inconvenient. But, they function nicely. I have 3 different lamps plugged into these units, and I can use the single remote to turn them off or on. Kind of neat! The remote is nice and small, but those wall units are ridiculously huge. I’ve had a remote-switch set before that wasn’t nearly as cumbersome as these are. But, it does work just fine.

I was in need of a light switch, since my apartment is not equipped with ceiling lights, much less wall-mounted light switches. I needed to be able to turn on lights without having to cross a darkened room tripping over furniture. The DSI Outlet’s remote activated outlets came in super handy. Especially since I can plug a power strip into the outlet and be able to switch off several things at once. Also it gives me the ability to be able to remotely activate lights in other rooms as I move from one to the other; very useful when shutting things down for the evening.

So I bought it. After it arrived, I admired it’s appearance, it looked sturdy and carried through the U safety grounding principle. So I put it to work. It did not false trigger, but reliably turned remote items on and off just as I had desired. I then congratulated myself on just having one of the best purchases of my life. house and just loves it. Now if she could only control me….

Nice Range, Simple Functionality, Overly Large Plug Modules

The only issue I have is with the receiver that plugs into the wall outlet. One, it is extremely large, you aren’t able to plug two of them into the same outlet and they protrude 2 inches away from the wall (I was not able to put it behind a couch); and two, if it isn’t plugged directly into the wall (I put one of mine onto a power strip so I can still use the outlet) the signal is significantly weaker. I used to be able to turn on this light from over 20 feet away in another room when the receiver was plugged directly into the wall, now I have to be within 5 feet with the remote pointed in the direction of the receiver while pushing the button repeatedly to get the light to turn on.

Basically, just keep in mind that you will be utilizing an entire outlet with this device. Otherwise it is a very handy thing to have.

I’ve never had the remote not work because it’s out of range, so that’s good. The remote doesn’t have any indication whether your devices are on or off, but this isn’t an issue because I can just look at the tree and see.

You can also turn on and off the devices from the front of the plugs, which comes in handy if you misplace your remote.

Every apartment I’ve lived in has zero overhead lighting in the living room and bedrooms. Remote control outlets were the perfect solution. I just leave the switch on the lamp on all the time and control the power with the remote. No more feeling my way to the lamp. This would also be great for a hard to reach outlet that turned something like the christmas tree lights on.

I really love this device, especially at this price point. The simply work, and they have worked flawlessly. The only issue is their size. They are annoyingly large. But I do my best to hide them from being visible.

A surprising annoyance that I never considered is that when you want to turn off your light, it’s actually more work to remember where the remote was last placed than it is to know where the light switch is. But it’s worth that small inconvenience. I just leave it on the coffee table…usually!

Out of all of her presents she liked this stupid thing the best. She hooked her tacky lights to this. This year I bought her 2 more. I color coded each set because each set works on its own frequency. Now she’s controlling things all over the house and just loves it. Now if she could only control me….

Amazing Device, Easy to Use.

I bought some a few months ago and love them so much I had to buy more! It’s so handy being able to control all the lamps in the living room and through to the sun room without getting off the couch! And with a King size bed I don’t have to get up to turn off the lights I can’t reach after I’m done reading and nodding off to sleep. It especially means a lot when you have hip and knee issues. I have had no trouble with them, they work perfectly and the signal is not easily blocked by furniture or what-so. I highly recommend :)Shipping was quick as well.

Worked great. Was able to plug in and then use remote to turn on and off instead of having to plug and unplug lights all the time. I had no problems with range or anything else. The only small negative I would say is the unit that you plug into the wall is rather large (about 4-6 inches tall, 1-2 inches thick).

With this remote and the three switches you can sit back and relax when you need to turn on or off a light. Ever forget to turn off a light in the kitchen after making a sandwich or snack? Even if you are already in another room and eating just click the button and its taken care of. Do yourself a favor though, don’t misplace the remote:)

This is an excellent product and works very well. While other reviewers are complaining that the battery is not provided and the button is hard to press, I have found the battery provided in the box and the button to be very responsive. The range is amazing and I never had hard time to turn on/off any light remotely. I also like that the local outlet units have their own on/off switch so I don’t have to run around the house to find the remote to turn on/off my light. The only gripe is the size, it is huge and when plugged in to the wall, it blocks the access to the other outlet as well. So maybe the manufacture could make it more compact.

With a wired switch, say your appliance is on and the power cuts out, then your appliance cuts out too (naturally), but when the power comes back on, so does your appliance. In the same sequence of events with a wireless switch, your appliance does NOT come back on—you have to activate the switch to turn it back on. This could make a difference if you’re using a remote switch in conjunction with a motion sensor.

3 Outlets with 1 Remote is the easiest and the coolest product we’ve purchased in a long time. Just think about signage on your wall up 10 feet from the floor that you can turn on with a remote! How cool is that? pies.

Awesome, Especially for Lamp-lit Homes

In old homes without well developed lighting and switches, these are awesome – instead of walking around rooms to turn on the rare lights (our basement is poorly lit with light switches literally in 3 opposite corners only), we use these and lamps and control everything easily. These program really easily and work great. Never had a problem. You can program multiple “outlets” to the same button, so that you can turn groups of outlets on and off from a single button. This is great. Each outlet can have two “buttons” programmed to it.
The only problem is with this “button” programming. The way I planned to use this was to have outlet sets 1-4 for buttons 1-4, then use 5 as an “all on” option. The problem is that the remotes aren’t equal to each other, and the remotes can’t be programmed. So, to make the remotes equal (button 1 and remote A and B turns the same set on), you’ve already used the two buttons available (i.e. the outlet responds to remote A button 1′s frequency 100, and remote B button 1′s frequency of 200). This is no problem except that I wanted to have an “all on” option, which would then require a third frequency, which the outlets aren’t capable of.
Other than this, the product is awesome, I have multiple sets in our old home and I will buy more if I ever need more.

that brand required 4 different remotes to operate 4 strings of LED lights throughout our travel trailer. We ordered these and received them quickly. 15 minutes after we opened the package (which was short one battery, but a quick call to Etekcity and they linked our Amazon order to our address and promised to send us a couple of batteries), the system was up and running.

Programming was easy and straight forward. Now we punch one button and all the lights come on, push another and all are off! In addition, we can program the other buttons to operate singles strings of lights. Simple to operate, simple to set up, responsive and courteous customer service. What more can we ask for? Only have had them a few days, so can’t attest to durability, but we will keep you posted (both on the batteries, and the how well they hold up.

Very nice feature. I use these for lamps, fans, my DVR (because it locks up if not power on and off every few days) and a few other things. With one button you can turn on/off several things at once.

HUGE Money Saver for Us!!

We have a large open unfinished potion of our basement that is used for storage, workspace and music area. It is very dark and lighted by hang down shop lights that plug in. The lighting works well but it is treacherous walking through the dark trying to find the pull string to turn them on unless we left one on constantly which was a waste of money and not at all green. We were contemplating hiring an electrician to rewire the lighting so we could have a switch by the door when we found this wireless set. MUCH cheaper than an electrician and we can turn each light on individually instead of all on at once. This wireless remote is a money saver for us all the way around. It even works from the other room so we can turn on a light before we open the door. It was easy to install and no more walking blind in the dark. I guess the instructions are good but you could easily figure it out without them. We absolutely could not be happier!

The remote and outlets work great and are super easy to program. I used them in a room that requires a lot of light and I have them setup so that 1 button turns them on or off but I can also shed individual lights by using the other programmed from the factory buttons. The remote control outlets sturdy and well built.

I LOVE this product so much that I had to tell you! I originally bought the first set for my newborn daughter’s room because the cute lamp that she had as part of her room decor did not have a switch. If I wanted to use it I had to plug it in, and when I was done, I had to unplug it. With a newborn who needed a diaper change in the middle of the night, this was never going to happen. This product was EXACTLY what I needed. One click and her lamp switches on – no fuss! I have since then installed one in just about every room. I also have one in my son’s room for his nightlight so it doesn’t stay on all the time. This is really convenient so that when I am nice and cozy in my bed, I can simply turn off the lamp from my room. I just ordered a second set for my in-laws for their Christmas tree. They think it is the most amazing gadget ever!

But all aspects of the initial transaction exceeded my expectations. The order was promptly filled. The price was as good or better than that asked for competing units. The outlets and remotes were very easy to set up and so far have worked flawlessly. The instruction material was clear and written with a nice tone of customer service consciousness. The remote units even came with initial batteries and one replacement battery for each. Wouldn’t it be nice if more firms showed thoughtful consideration of the customer like this!
